Rabbit à la Provençale

When the whole family comes together my Mum always asks my sisters, my brother and me what she should cook for us. The discussions are endless and very passionate but if there is one dish we all agree on it is "Rabbit à la Provençale". We like to eat this tender rabbit with tagliatelle but it is also perfect with fresh baguette to dip up the flavourful sauce. Ingredients for 4-6 persons: 1 rabbit, cut in pieces 1 bottle of nice red wine 3 sprigs of rosemary, chopped 5 sprigs of thyme, chopped 3 cloves of garlic,... [Lire la suite]

Asparagus parmesan tarte

In my first and last childhood picnic memory, I'm running through the forest, fleeing from the big raindrops of a summer storm. Once I reach the car I'm soaked. We never venture out again, mainly because of my father's resistance, who can't see the point of sitting in the grass and having to fight off ants. I am still a picnic enthusiast but I have to admit that the last two times I organised such an outing to a nearby park with friends, we ended up spreading the picnic blanket in the living room because of a sudden weather... Papardelle with meatballs

Inspired by the novel "You Gotta Have Balls" I decided to treat myself and my husband to pasta with meatballs. It was raining cats and dogs so it was a perfect time for some good old fashioned comfort food. I followed a recipe by Jamie Oliver and as usual it turned out great.   Ingredients for 2 persons : 300 gr of fresh papardelle For the meatballs 225 gr of minced meat 1-2 chilis, crushed 1 pinch of cinnamon 1 garlic glove, crushed 1 egg 2 tablespoon of grated parmesan zest of 1/2 a lemon ... Green asparagus, broad beans and rocket salad

I went to the farmers' market this morning and saw fresh broad beans for the first time this year. When I came home I wondered what to do with them, so I asked the British gardener and cook Sarah Raven for advice by looking broad beans up in her "Garden Cookbook". I made her green asparagus, broad bean and rocket salad. She also adds fresh peas. I loved the firm green asparagus stalks with the soft broad beans and the peppery rocket leaves. For me this is the taste of spring. Ingredients for 4 persons:  ... [Lire la suite]

Za'atar chicken with fattoush

Thanks to the British kitchen godess Nigella Lawson I discovered za'atar. It is an oriental spice mix made of dried thyme, roasted sesame seeds and purple sumac. In her cookbook "Forever Summer" Nigella gives us the recipe for Za'atar Chicken with Fattoush. Every time I make this crispy chicken a delicious aroma invades my kitchen. And the salad is just the right mix with the crispy pita, the fresh mint and the juicy cucumbers and tomatoes. So even if you have to buy za'atar don't hesitate, it will be gone before you know it, because... [Lire la suite]

Strawberry feast

Ripe strawberries are perfect just on their own and the only thing that makes them even better is whipped cream. Well, this recipe is another way of enhancing the flavour of these glorious red and juicy fruits. The fresh orange juice and zest brings out their aroma. In French the recipe is called "fraise à la fraise", which means "strawberry with strawberry"! Ingredients for 2 portions: 375 gr of strawberries 1/2 orange, juice and zest 2 teaspoons of sugar 2 tablespoons of cream   • Cut 2/3 of the strawberries in half,... [Lire la suite]

Pizza with green asparagus, pesto and parma ham

I studied in the south of Germany, in the beautiful and very green city of Freiburg near the French and Swiss borders. If you ever get run over in Freiburg it will be by a bike or a tramway. The people there are very outdoorsy and even in the winter you can sit outside the cafés huddled up in blankets and enjoy the sunshine. In the spring everybody goes mad during the asparagus season. You can eat it everywhere any time. Since then I have been hooked and I need my dose of asparagus as soon as I can get it. Therefore I was... [Lire la suite]
