Thai Pork Satay

You can travel by taking an air plane, a bus, your car, the train... or by opening Madhur Jaffreys cookbook "Curry, Curry, Curry". She has compiled more than 200 curry recipes from all around the world. This time I decided to go to Thailand to try out the Thai Pork Satay. It was absolutely delicious, even though I had to do it without coriander root as I couldn' t find any. It makes a good starter or a meal if you serve it with some rice on the side. But I have to warn you the peanut dip is addictive. For 4: Marinade Ingredients: ... [Lire la suite]

Grilled Eggplant Rolls with Feta, Mint and Chilli

Some women buy shoes, others like me buy cookbooks. I have cookbooks that are still beautiful, shiny cover, new book smell... others have dog ears and stained pages. If I had to choose which ones to save from a fire, (in this scenario my husband, our cat and every other living being that was at that moment in our apartment is obviously already saved and chatting with the firemen in front of the house), I would save the old and used cookbooks, because in there are all my cherished recipes that made The List.  On The List are... Ginger and Lime Tart

I am not a dessert person, don't get me wrong I love eating them, but I don't like fiddling for hours preparing a sweet treat. The Ginger and Lime Tart from Catherine Kluger is perfect, it is a cinch to make, looks good and tastes great. It is the best tart Tart, I came across until now.   For 4-6: 15 ginger biscuits 40 gr butter 4 limes, zest and juice 400 gr condensed milk 4 egg yolks   • Preheat the oven to 160°C. • In a mixer reduce the biscuits to crumbs. Put the crumbs into a bowl, add the melted butter,... [Lire la suite]

June Menu

I love composing menus and I often spend an hour on my couch reading and looking for recipes, trying to decide what could go well together. I like to host dinner parties but I want to spend the evening with my guests and not stressing in the kitchen. This June Menu can be mostly prepared beforehand. It is light, full of flavours and puts a spotlight on fresh vegetables, so only choose really ripe tomatoes and fragrant strawberries. Serve with fresh baguette.         Starter:   Green Asparagus,... [Lire la suite]

Indian fish with raita and zucchini salad

I long to travel and instead of working I often find myself searching on the Internet for travel sites. For my next big trip I want to go to India, it is an old dream of mine. But I have to be patient and need to wait until I have accumulated enough holidays.Until then I do what I can and I recreate the spirit of India in my kitchen. I followed a recipe from the chef David Tanis, who is famous for his seasonal, straightforward dishes, that are bursting with flavour. To marinate the fish I had to grind some spices and then I already... [Lire la suite]

Watermelon, Feta and Black Olive Salad

When I first came across this recipe in Nigella Lawsons cookbook "Forever Summer" I was doubtful but now I am a believer, the combination works really well and the Watermelon, Feta and Black Olive Salad is both refreshing and savory at the same time.  Every time I brought it to a picnic, a barbecue or a dinner party, my friends asked me for the recipe. So, it is a keeper. I love it especially on hot summer days when you are just a little bit hungry and crave refreshment. This does the trick.     For 4: 4-5... [Lire la suite]

Summer Tart

When I saw these beautiful tomatoes I first wanted to paint them, but considering my mediocre art skills I decided I would honore their beauty more by cooking them. The result is a Summer Tart, perfect for those evenings when you don't want to spend much time in the kitchen but still want to enjoy a nice meal with chilled rosé or white wine.   Ingredients for 1 tart: 1 store bought puff pastry 2 tablespoons of olive paste (tapenade) 1 zucchini 4-6 tomatoes 1 fresh goat cheese 1/2 bunch of parsley, chopped 1/2 bunch... Tzatziki Potato Salad

Tzatziki on its own is already a fabulous invention and I don't think I could survive hot summer days without it. When I discovered the recipe of a Tzatziki Potato Salad on the blog Smitten Kitchen http://smittenkitchen.com/2012/05/tzatziki-potato-salad/#more-8541, I thought what a genius idea. I immediately bought all the ingredients and I can tell you, this refreshing salad is as good as it sounds. I served it with smoked salmon.   Ingredients for 6-8 persons: 4 pounds potatoes (I chose new potatoes) ... [Lire la suite]
