Risotto milanese with tomatoes and king prawns

Whenever I travelled abroad I ended up buying some local specialty only to discover that at home the great espresso doesn't taste as good as in Rome. But to every rule there is thank God an exception. Last summer I spend with my husband a week in the Valley du Lot in France. It is famous for its red wine but also for its saffron. The guy who sold saffron at a market convinced us of the quality of its product by offering us some home made and really delicious saffron biscuits, so I bought two jars. When I use some of this saffron I am... Indian fish with raita and zucchini salad

I long to travel and instead of working I often find myself searching on the Internet for travel sites. For my next big trip I want to go to India, it is an old dream of mine. But I have to be patient and need to wait until I have accumulated enough holidays.Until then I do what I can and I recreate the spirit of India in my kitchen. I followed a recipe from the chef David Tanis, who is famous for his seasonal, straightforward dishes, that are bursting with flavour. To marinate the fish I had to grind some spices and then I already... [Lire la suite]

Summer Tart

When I saw these beautiful tomatoes I first wanted to paint them, but considering my mediocre art skills I decided I would honore their beauty more by cooking them. The result is a Summer Tart, perfect for those evenings when you don't want to spend much time in the kitchen but still want to enjoy a nice meal with chilled rosé or white wine.   Ingredients for 1 tart: 1 store bought puff pastry 2 tablespoons of olive paste (tapenade) 1 zucchini 4-6 tomatoes 1 fresh goat cheese 1/2 bunch of parsley, chopped 1/2 bunch... Papardelle with meatballs

Inspired by the novel "You Gotta Have Balls" I decided to treat myself and my husband to pasta with meatballs. It was raining cats and dogs so it was a perfect time for some good old fashioned comfort food. I followed a recipe by Jamie Oliver and as usual it turned out great.   Ingredients for 2 persons : 300 gr of fresh papardelle For the meatballs 225 gr of minced meat 1-2 chilis, crushed 1 pinch of cinnamon 1 garlic glove, crushed 1 egg 2 tablespoon of grated parmesan zest of 1/2 a lemon ... Za'atar chicken with fattoush

Thanks to the British kitchen godess Nigella Lawson I discovered za'atar. It is an oriental spice mix made of dried thyme, roasted sesame seeds and purple sumac. In her cookbook "Forever Summer" Nigella gives us the recipe for Za'atar Chicken with Fattoush. Every time I make this crispy chicken a delicious aroma invades my kitchen. And the salad is just the right mix with the crispy pita, the fresh mint and the juicy cucumbers and tomatoes. So even if you have to buy za'atar don't hesitate, it will be gone before you know it, because... [Lire la suite]
